A west Cavan mart has cancelled its sales this weekend as a precaution against Covid-19.
Dowra Mart has paused all activity for one week, and halted scheduled sales of sheep and cattle that were due to get underway today and tomorrow.
Mart manager Terry McGovern told Northern Sound News that some staff had been identified as close contacts of positive cases, and opening this weekend was "not worth the risk".
He added that the decision to close was made internally as a precaution, and in line with current HSE and public health guidelines.
Sales are to resume at Dowra next Friday and Saturday.
