A local councillor says fines for dog fouling in our towns and villages across the region need to be issued.
Cllr Clifford Kelly brought a motion to the most recent meeting of Cavan County Council in relation to the scourge dog litter is having on locations
locally.
He said that a different approach needs to be taken when it comes to tackling the serious issue.
The County Cavan Councillor said not only is it terrible to see dog litter on footpaths but it's dangerous.
Cllr Kelly said it's not fair on our vulnerable in society, the likes of children, older people, people pushing buggies or a wheelchair user.
The calls come as it was revealed that there was no dog fouling offences recorded in Cavan in either 2023 or 2024.
Cllr Kelly said more needs to be done.
