Cavan County Council, in consultation with the HSE, has issued a 'Do Not Consume' notice to Mountain Lodge Group Water Scheme, with immediate effect.
The move is due to elevated levels of manganese in the treated water.
Boiling the water will not render it safe for consumption and the local authority is advising consumers to find an alternative source for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth or gargling.
Mountain Lodge Group Water Scheme has placed alternative supplies by means of a tanker at Laragh School (H12CX33) and Tunnyduff Hall (A82AD81).
The local authority is advising that this water must be boiled before use.
Members will be kept up to date on the situation via post.
