A "Do Not Consume" notice has been issued for a water supply in Co. Cavan.
Following a consultation with the HSE, Uisce Éireann has warned customers on the Dowra Public Water Supply Scheme not to consume the water due to high levels of aluminum.
Uisce Éireann highlights that boiling the water will not reduce the aluminum levels and will not make it safe to drink.
The notice applies only to customers supplied by the Dowra Public Water Supply Scheme, and is expected to remain in place until the 22nd of August.
Operational experts are currently working with Cavan County Council to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
A a water tanker is being made available in Dowra Mart to support local customers impacted by the Do Not Consume notice.
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure as per HSE advice
