Cavan County Council, in consultation with the HSE have issued a 'do not consume' notice to the Ballymachugh Group Water Scheme with immediate effect due to elevated levels of manganese.
According to advice issued on behalf of Cavan County Council and the HSE, boiling the water will "not" render safe for consumption.
Consumers are asked to use an alternative water source for drinking, making ice, food preparation and for the brushing of teeth.
Ballymachugh Group Water Scheme have placed alternative supplies by means of a tanker at Sheelin Park Ballymachugh GAA grounds, Church carpark Finea and the square in Kilcogy Village.
Consumers are advised that water from the tanker must be boiled before use.
