The N3 remains closed at Lisgrey this lunchtime following a collision that occurred yesterday afternoon.
It's understood that a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators is now underway at the scene.
Diversions remain in place, motorists travelling South are being asked to divert via Lavey to Bailieboro (R165) and then on to Virginia (R178). For motorists travelling North: divert via Virginia to Ballyjamesduff (R194) and then on to New Inn (R196)
Please follow signs and stick to designated diversions and do not use any other routes or use google maps during this closure.
Meanwhile, Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the collision that occured at approximately 1.10pm, Gardaí and emergency services responded to a two-car collision in Lisgrey. A passenger of one car, a woman aged in her 70s, was brought by air ambulance to the Mater Hospital, Dublin, where she is in a critical condition. The occupant of the second car was hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward. Additionally, road users travelling on the N3 between The Lavey Inn and Virginia between 12.45pm and 1.15pm and who may have camera footage (including dashcam recordings) are asked to make it available to Gardaí.
