A Cavan native has criticised the omission of Paul Brady from the RTE Sports Awards.
Paul Brady from Mullahoran won an unprecedented 6th world handball title this year. The 45-year old recovered from heartache and injury in the All-Ireland finals earlier this year to secure the title. John O'Reilly from Virginia says he was disgusted that Paul wasn't mentioned at all at the awards.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, he says the six time world champion is an incredible ambassador for the sport and should've been recognised by the national broadcaster
"There were over 1,700 people who were playing at different grades and levels. We're talking from Mexico, west coast US,and Canada, and this guy at 45 years of age, how he could mentally come back from injury after losing the All-Ireland this year, get back up on the horse again, and get himself both physically and mentally back, and pull that off, he's a wonderful ambassador".
