Disappointment over the imminent closure of the local employment offices in Clones and Ballybay has been expressed today.
Public representatives are up in arms over a decision they say has left people in the locality "disappointed and deflated".
Northern Sound understands the services are to be amalgamated into the Monaghan town base.
Cllr Seamus Coyle believes the move is another example of the Government's effort to downgrade rural towns and villages.
He says he is disgusted with these latest developments and will endeavour over the next few days to get the decision reversed.
"This is an enormous blow that the local employment service offices are going from both Ballybay and Clones," Cllr Coyle continued.
"In Ballybay it follows the loss of the social protection office which brought 30 jobs out of the town.
"All other sectors of economic activity in Ballybay were hugely impacted by this."
