There was disagreement among Monaghan councillors over whether works should take place on a number of projects over the summer months.
At this month's meeting of the Monaghan Municipal District a report by co-ordinator Donal McElwain updated members on the progress of a number of developments in the area.
The co-ordinators report shows that the tenders for construction of the Family Cycle Trail in Rossmore have been evaluated and a contractor has been notified.
There was also progress on the Oriel Way MUGA with the tender documents for that project forwarded and approval obtained from SEUPB.
While a preferred tenderer for the upgrade of Hollywood Park has accepted the contract.
These works will be done by the Paul Hogarth Company with an initial meeting to be planned with the Hollywood Development Group before the end of June.
However, there was some disagreement between councillors as to when any of this work should begin.
Sinn Fein's Sean Conlon raised concern that should any of these developments be ready during the summer months for work to start that would impact on families and children who are on summer holidays.
He asked for all work to be stalled until September.
But Fine Gael's David Maxwell disagreed with this proposal and said that it wouldn't be wise to stop the works and risk any delays in these projects moving forward.
The executive told members that this would only be cause for concern should any of these developments get to the construction stages in the coming weeks.
