Derry Girls creator, Lisa McGee has been awarded the Freedom of Derry City. The writer is the first women to receive the honour.
The Channel 4 sitcom follows the lives of four school friends growing up during The Troubles. Speaking at the ceremony in Derry's Guildhall last night, Lisa says she's overwhelmed to be given the freedom of her home city.
"I'm shocked; it's very surreal and I don't think really hit me yet to be honest. It's just incredible and such a huge privilege. I still can't believe it," she added.
