Grants for vacant properties in rural Cavan, Monaghan and North Meath have been expanded this afternoon under the Croi na Conaithe scheme.
Minister for Social Protection and Rural & Community Development Heather Humphreys has confirmed that the scheme, first launched in July for towns and villages, has been expanded to all areas of the country, including counties Cavan, Monaghan and Meath.
Grants of up to €50,000 will be made available to homeowners of vacant and derelict properties which will be provided by local authorities. The Minister highlighted how an expanded Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant has also been launched and can be combined with the SEAI Better Energy Home Scheme to cover works up to a cost of €26,750.
They are available to individuals and families who will use the property and Minister Humphreys says it is another measure being introduced by the Government that will support home ownership and provide more homes in the State.
