Cavan-Monaghan TDs must vote to halt government's scandalous €9m waste on mobile phone pouches. That's according to Sinn Féin TD, Deputy Pauline Tully who says that Cavan-Monaghan TDs will have an opportunity to overturn the government's decision to waste public money on pouches, which, could be invested in "badly needed mental health services in schools" instead.
Deputy Tully was speaking as Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald moved a Dáil motion, to be debated and voted on, that calls on the government to reverse the decision.
Deputy Tully said the €9m allocated in Budget 2025 for mobile phone pouches is a scandalous waste of taxpayers' money, particularly at a time "when schools and our children are crying out for investment in mental health supports and special education, and schools are struggling to keep the lights on and keep buildings warm". Mary Lou McDonald wrote the Taoiseach calling on him to reverse "this indefensible spend".
