The Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport and Media chaired by Deputy Niamh Smyth is meeting today for pre-legislative scrutiny of the general scheme of the Registration of Short-Term Tourist Letting Bill 2022
The Committee will hear from representatives in the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation; Airbnb; Threshold; and Expedia Group. Speaking to Northern Sound, Deputy Smyth said the gathering comes after the Government tasked Fáilte Ireland to develop a registration system for Short-Term Tourist Lettings in Ireland.
She highlighted how there is an expectation that the system developed will provide an accurate and comprehensive register of all short-term tourist properties across the country. She added that stakeholders will today give the perspective from the letting industry.
