Cavan Monaghan Sinn Féin TD, Matt Carthy, has called on the Government to endorse and implement his party's proposals to end the crisis in the State's hospitals.
He was speaking ahead of Sinn Fein's Dáil motion on the issue this week.
Deputy Carthy highlighted how Co Monaghan was now "at the coalface" of Government failures because of the removal of services from the local hospital.
He said the shortage of GP services locally was adding to the overcrowding at Emergency Departments in Cavan and Drogheda hospitals.
Deputy Carthy added that two decades of negligence has "come home to roost" with fewer acute inpatient beds in hospitals when compared to 25 years ago, and the need for 800 more acute and transitional care beds before next winter.
