The Department of Education is considering the design of an extension to Ballybay Community College.
Speaking on behalf of Minister Norma Foley, Deputy Mary Butler confirmed to Monaghan senator Robbie Gallagher that the project has progressed and a design has been submitted for the Department's approval.
An application for additional accommodation was put in by CMETB in June 2019, which would see two general classrooms, a science lab and science prep area constructed.
Senator Robbie Gallagher welcomed the development and said he hopes it can progress further without delay.
Speaking in the Seanad, Minister of State Mary Butler explained what the next stage of works will be.
