Demand for provisions provided by food banks in Cavan is increasing.
That is according to Noel Kelly of the Ballyjamesduff Food Bank who says it is currently endeavouring to provide three days of food to people who are struggling.
Noel says more and more people are asking for help but there is only so much that the Bank can do.
He added that the problem for many local people is the cost of rent and when that is paid, there is little money left for food.
Noel said one individual was forced to eat dog food because he was broke after paying bills and it was all he had in the house.
"A couple of weeks ago things were so bad for one individual that he was eating dog food," he continued.
"He didn't know about the food bank but that is how bad things were for him.
"He couldn't afford food because he was paying his rent.
"I was shocked over this because this is 2022 and people should not be living like this."
