A decision is due next month on a proposed housing development at the Erne Palais Ballroom in Belturbet.
A planning application submitted in December was delayed by a request for further information by Cavan County Council.
Erne Palais Limited is seeking to partially demolish the Belturbet building and construct two apartments, three two-storey houses and two bungalows.
The front façade of the protected structure is to be retained as part of the application.
Senior planners had requested further information on the plans, including how the external façade will be protected and if internal storage and external amenity space available to future residents will be reconsidered.
One submission by a local resident was made on the original application, and it objected to the granting of permission on six grounds.
It was argued that it was increase traffic at the junction of Barrick Hill and Main Street, that Barrick Lane is over-developed as is, and the proposed properties aren't in keeping with other architechure.
It's proximity to a local playground and a shortage of parking nearby was also raised.
In the submission it was claimed the vacant properties in the town indicates "no social need" for more houses, with it suggested that the Palais site could become a public carpark or store for Belturbet row boat club.
The building had been the centre of the "Save the Palais" campaign in 2018, when Cavan County Council intended to put social housing on the site.
It was extensively damaged by a suspected arson attack in September of that year.
