The death has occurred of a former Monaghan politician. Fine Gael stalwart Mary Kerr-Conlon of Highfield, Carrickmacross passed away yesterday. After a quarter of a century as a Fine Gael representative in Co Monaghan, the former councillor officially retired back in 2022. Ms Kerr-Conlon was first elected to Monaghan County Council in the 2019 Local Elections and had previously served on Carrickmacross Town Council for 22 years from 1992 to 2014.
The former Fine Gael representative will repose at Lonergan Funeral Directors Funeral Home, Carrickmacross, tomorrow and on Sunday from 4pm until 8pm. Mary's funeral cortège will leave her home, Highfield on Monday morning, driving to the Convent Hill and from there proceeding on foot to St Joseph's Church, Carrickmacross, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in St Joseph's Cemetery.
