A Cavan councillor has received confirmation that the Local Link bus route 178 connecting Cootehill, Shercock, Bailieboro and Virginia will be in operation by the end of this year. The update was confirmed to Cllr Sarah O'Reilly by the National Transport Authority. According to the local Aontú representative, the service which is still not in place was initially planned to be in operation by Q3 of 2023.
In addition to this, Cllr O'Reilly said she has received further good news from the NTA regarding the same route. According to Cllr O'Reilly the NTA has also agreed to examine the feasibility of including stops between Bailieboro and Virginia, subject to safety considerations and approval by Cavan County Council. This would be good news for service users in both Killinkere and Cross. Cllr O'Reilly said; "I'm delighted that the NTA has listened to the people regarding this and this would really improve the service for the users in those areas."
