A Cavan councillor believes driver behaviour needs to be tackled in order to reduce fatalities on our roads.
Speed limits on rural roads were reduced from 80kph to 60kph this week.
However, Councillor John Paul Feeley believes this is not the biggest issue on the roads.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, he says that dangerous overtakes, impatience, and lack of awareness are causing more accidents.
The Fianna Fáil councillor outlined that these behaviours need to be tackled as a matter of urgency, rather than focusing on speed.
