A disagreement between the HSE and Vertex Pharmaceuticals over the refusal of life saving Cystic Fibrosis drug Kaftrio to 35 children has been met with anger locally.
Parents of those impacted are currently protesting outside Leinster House and threatening to take legal action if a resolution is not found.
The drug is provided to 140 children in Ireland but as of this morning an additional 35 have been refused it.
Lorraine O’Neill is a Cystic Fibrosis campaigner in Cavan Monaghan.
Speaking to Northern Sound, she explained how the drug has made a significant difference to people’s health.
Ms O’Neill says she remains hopeful that those who are entitled to Kaftrio will be on it as soon as possible.
"Kaftrio treats the illness so significantly," she continued.
"It is an amazing drug and any Cystic Fibrosis patients who I know on it, have noticed a difference in their health.
"It's the first drug that actually treats the illness and is making a huge difference."
