The Criminal Assets Bureau is set to get new powers to name and shame criminals.
The Justice Minister Helen McEntee is proposing publishing the names of people who have made settlements with CAB, similar to Revenue's list of tax defaulters.
According to the Irish Independent, the plan also includes shortening the time frame for confiscating assets from the proceeds of crime from seven years to three and a half.
Minister McEntee hopes the changes will act as a deterrent to criminals and also show the public who CAB are dealing with.
