The traffic lights in the centre of Emyvale village should be operational by the end of the day following almost two weeks of disruption.
Last Monday, a lorry hauling poultry offal lost its load at the junction because the traffic lights were faulty. It's thought the driver had to brake suddenly causing his load of animal products to spill over the main road through the village. A decision was taken at the time to turn the lights at the junction beside a school, créche and Emyvale Leisure Centre off.
This morning, a Northern Sound listener requested to know when they would be reinstated. Sinn Féin councillor Bronagh McAree has being making representations to Monaghan County Council asking to have the lights repaired and today, she could confirm that work to repair them has started and they should be operational by the end business today.
