The Ballyconnell native who has been newly elected as the President of the Irish League
of Credit Unions says they are 'here to stay' in local communities.
Helene McManus now from the Kilcloon & District Credit Union
was elected at the end of April and is only the second woman President in
the 61 year history.
She says that she has no doubt the credit union could and should play a
bigger role in rural communities as they have surplus money that can be used
for good.
However she also emphasised the need to support in order to do this and
changes to occur to allow them to expand their services.

reassure people that they are here to stay:
