CPR and Defibrillators were being used before the arrival of an ambulance in 72 cardiac incidents across the region this year
The figures were provided to Northern Sound through a Freedom of Information request to the National Ambulance Service.
According to the figures, CPR was already being performed on a patient in 32 incidents in Cavan before the ambulance arrived.
On 8 occasions, a defibrillator was being used.
Meanwhile in Monaghan, 27 patients were having CPR performed on them before paramedics arrived, with 5 also receiving defibrillation.
The HSE is encouraging everyone to learn the basics of CPR and to join their community first responders group
