Covid-19 testing centres across Cavan and Monaghan will close today, Thursday the 30th of March. The HSE says that testing is no longer recommended as vaccine and developments in treatment have weakened virus impact.
Also, from today, the self-referral portal on the HSE's website, which enabled the public book their own PCR test will cease operation, and health care workers who are household close contacts are no longer required to do antigen tests.
Meanwhile, a reduced contact tracing service will remain and will be limited to those with a positive test in settings where further transmission is likely.
The HSE added that PCR and antigen testing will continue to be used by doctors in hospitals and GP settings for the purpose of diagnosing and treating Covid-19.
