It will contain five levels of restrictions with one being the lightest and five being almost full lockdown.

Most of the country will be put straight onto level two - however Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has hinted Dublin will be higher on the scale.

That means fresh restrictions for the capital are likely to be in place from tomorrow.

Varadkar also confirmed there will be small fines for being in breach of the new rules.

The return of spectator sport is likely to happen with potentially as many as 5,000 people being allowed to attend games in the bigger stadiums like Croke Park.

The government will also change the rules around foreign travel to adopt the system being developed by the European Commission of traffic light levels of restrictions on entering different countries.
