Cavan and Monaghan recorded 240 new Covid cases yesterday.
The 14-day incidence rates in the two counties continue to rise.
Monaghan remains the county with the highest rate in the country at 1,243 cases per 100,000 people. It recorded 117 cases yesterday.
Cavan's has also risen and now stands at 822. It's now the fifth highest rate in the Republic and is now ahead of the rate in Dublin after recording 123 cases.
5,325 confirmed cases of Covid-19 were reported nationally last night, along with 17 further deaths.
The national 14 day incidence is now 674 cases per 100,000 people - up from 246 this day last week.
There are 840 people with Covid-19 in hospital - with 76 are in intensive care.
