The RCSI Hospital Group says the Covid-19 outbreak at Cavan General is being managed in line with HSE guidelines.
An outbreak of the virus was confirmed to Northern Sound News yesterday afternoon.
In a statement to Shannonside Northern Sound News, the RCSI Hospital Group which manages Cavan General Hospital, said any outbreaks are managed in accordance with National Guidelines.
It provided a link the HSE's daily operational report, which showed 11 confirmed and two suspected Covid-19 cases in the hospital at 8pm yesterday.
However this relates to patients being treated for the virus, and not positive readings from outbreaks.
The HSE report also showed there are three general beds and two critical beds free in Cavan.
A memo sent to GPs in the region on Wednesday confirmed an outbreak of Covid-19 in the hospital, and that appropriate measures are in place to control the spread.
Doctors in Cavan and Monaghan are being asked to only make urgent referrals at this time.
Visiting restrictions had been put in place earlier this week after an increasing number of cases in the region.
However, a number of staff, including nursing and admin staff, and patients have since tested positive for the virus.
Others have been forced to self-isolate as they were in close contact.
