Covid-19 is still out there and people need to mind themselves.
This was the warning from Monaghan GP, Dr Ilona Duffy who was speaking on the Joe Finnegan show earlier about the rise in Covid-19 cases in recent days.
Dr Duffy said there was an onus of responsibility on everyone to protect themselves and each other because the virus hasn't gone away.
She added that despite all this, the Covid-19 jab did become "a game changer"
"Vaccinations have helped in every way," she added.
"To those who still have not received their vaccination, get it.
"The boosters are still available, so get it because it will offer you protection."
Meanwhile, there are 1,047 people in hospital with Covid-19 up five on yesterday's figure.
Case numbers are at their highest since mid-January, with 9,371 new cases confirmed yesterday.
114 people with Covid-19 have been discharged from hospital in the past 24 hours.
Latest figures show 42 patients are in intensive care with the virus.
