The sentencing of two cousins who led Gardaí on a cross-border chase in a stolen airport minibus has been adjourned to the new year.

In January, 26 year old Stephen McDonagh and 27 year old John McDonagh, both of The Steeples in Navan, took a courtesy bus with passengers from Dublin Airport.

The three passengers were released on the M1, and the pair continued northbound crossing the border before returning to the Republic near Castleblayney, and stealing a second car.

The pair pleaded guilty to a number of charges at Monaghan Circuit Court last month but sentencing couldn't go ahead because of a Covid related issue.

Before Judge John Aylmer at Cavan Circuit Court today, the matter was put back to the next Monaghan sitting.

A sick note was presented for Stephen, while John appeared via videolink from Mountjoy.

Both were remanded in custody, to be sentenced on January 12th.
