Businesses around Louth are hopeful the US President's visit to the area will give a boost to the local economy. Joe Biden is travelling to Carlingford and Dundalk following his arrival at Dublin Airport. There are a number of events planned for Mr. Biden in Dublin and Mayo before his last day in Ireland on Friday.
Speaking to Northern Sound, President Biden's 5th cousin, Cllr Andrea McKevitt says the family is hopeful that they will at least get to shake President Biden's hand during his visit.
She described finding out the family link to President Biden back in 2016 as a "surreal moment."
The Louth councillor says President Biden's visit to mark the Good Friday Agreement is "hugely significant" and that it will help strengthen links both North and South, particularly for a border county like Louth, which she says has "benefited greatly" as a result of the Good Friday Agreement.
She added that she is hopeful that President's Biden's visit will also influence Northern Irish politics and help get power-sharing at Stormont "back up and running."
Cllr McKevitt continued; "In Co Louth we have benefited greatly from the peace process. There are many people here who have been both directly and indirectly impacted by the troubles in the North. I think we have really bounced back as a county, we have wonderful industries in Dundalk and Drogheda, cross-border tourism is a massive thing for us and we're looking forward to the next 25 years and only getting bigger and better ."
