A planned operation over the weekend to crack down on illegal taxis in the Northern Sound region resulted in one driver being apprehended by Gardaí.
On Saturday, the Divisional RPU and the National Transport Authority stopped the car in Castleblayney suspected of carrying people for reward. Officials discovered the vehicle was both un-licensed and un-insured for this purpose.
An online post by Cavan / Monaghan Gardaí says "court is to follow for this driver". Gardaí also advises the public to "use licensed operators when seeking a taxi".
