A court case which is due to be heard tomorrow involving Monaghan County Council could threaten the tenancy of popular retailer, Homesavers, in the town's retail park. A case against Centz, the owners of Homesavers, is being taken by Monaghan County Council over an alleged contravention of the local authority's planning regulations. Homesavers, which stocks discounted home and garden furniture, also sells smaller item lines including toys, stationery and pet products.
A spokesperson from the local council confirmed to Northern Sound, they are taking the case against Centz as it is deemed the Homesavers store in the Monaghan Retail Park has breached planning regulations. If Homesavers are forced to move from their current location, it will bring to five the number of vacant units at Monaghan Retail Park, which, since its opening has never been fully-occupied.
