Cavan is currently recruiting for a new chief fire officer for the county. The position is being advertised right now with a deadline for applications of November 28th.
There's been a nationwide recruitment drive for fire service staff following industrial action by retained firefighters over the summer over better increased pay and a better work/life balance. 18 new firefighters in Cavan and 10 in County Monaghan were recruited after the successful drive.
The current Chief Fire Officer, Noel O'Reilly, was in the role on an interim basis. Cavan County Council's Fire and Emergency Services Department provides fire services operations, technical and community fire safety and building control services for the county. Fire personnel also provide emergency response and civil defence services.
