Local councillors have reiterated calls for Monaghan Minor Injury Unit's opening hours to be extended.
In recent correspondence to the County Council, the RCSI Hospital Group "advised that there are no plans to extend the operating hours".
It also noted that Cavan General Hospital provides 24-hour emergency care.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Stephen Donnelly pointed to "a number of new initiatives at Monaghan General Hospital" last year, including 18 new stepdown beds, a second endoscopy room, and provision for a third Ultrasound.
Seamus Coyle said he was disappointed by the response and called for the service to be made operational on a 24/7 basis, year-round.
Elsewhere, Sean Conlon said there was a "need to keep pressure on the HSE and government" and called for an increase in bed capacity and an extension to opening hours.
