Councillors have approved the development of an amphitheatre at Cavan County Museum.
Plans for the outdoor performance space received unanimous support at today's meeting of the Ballyjamesduff MD.
The project will be on the natural sloped ground at the front of the County Museum.
It's expected that it could seat up to 250 people and be used for school and tourist visits.
It was said that the space could also be used for live music, theatre performance, or a place that young people could be welcomed to gather.
In May the plans went to public consultation, and this morning it was brought before the members of Ballyjamesduff MD.
Director of Services Eoin Doyle said the local authority recommended the Part 8 application be supported, and outgoing curator of Cavan County Museum Savina Donohoe outlined the benefit it would have to the local area.
It was proposed to be approved by the Cathaoirleach of the MD, Trevor Smith who said it'll be a great addition.
The plans were welcomed by all councillors, and it will now go forward as part of the normal planning process.
