A local councillor has hit out at the numbers of people who are consuming alcohol in Scotstown's Hollywood Park.
A new bye-law came into place in Monaghan in February of this year, which gives gardaí the power to issue on the spot fines of 75 euro for the consumption of alcohol in a public place.

Sinn Féin Councillor Cathy Bennett said she has brought the issue to the attention of the gardaí and has asked the Council to erect more CCTVs in the park to stamp out the drinking that is taking place.

She also expressed concern at the amount of litter that has been dumped in the park in recent days.
