Saturday nights had become "problematic" for people socialising in Cavan, a recent Cavan Belturbet Municipal meeting heard.
More signage and more attention is needed for the location of a taxi rank on Main Street in Cavan Town according to Councillor Patricia Walsh.
The local Fianna Fáil Councillor said the rank outside Tesco on Main Street was only operating during daytime hours and suggested it needed to be made more permanent.
Adding that a taxi rank was needed for people at nigh-time also when people were out socialising.
Cllr Walsh said this has been an issue for a number of years, going back even to the days of the Town Council.
She is hoping the council can look at this important issue and organise a taxi rank for people from early morning until night time which in turn will benefit the town.
