Monaghan County Council says it’s assessing the condition of a derelict building in Monaghan town.
Concerns have been raised about the safety of the building at the junction of Mill Street and the North Road.
This building has been vacant for a number of years.
In a statement, Monaghan County Council said it acquired the building using its compulsory purchase powers under the Derelict Sites Act.
It had been placed on the sales market in 2018.
The local authority says the condition of the building has deteriorated and it is currently carrying out assessment works with a view to carrying out emergency works.
Concerns had been raised about the safety of the building and the possibility debris could fall from it onto the footpath and road below.
The Council says the works, when carried out, will protect the public and preserve the building.
