The coronation of Charles III and his wife Camilla as King and Queen of the UK will take place this afternoon.
Cavan political commentator, Sean McKiernan, says it's a significant moment for Ireland's "nearest neighbour" in its system of Government which is Constitutional Monarchy.
He says that a lot of Irish people are fascinated by the Royal Family - particularly on a soap opera basis.
Mr McKiernan highlighted how there has been coronations in Westminster Abbey since 1066 when William the Conqueror became King.
He added that the symbolic chair which will be used during today's proceedings - St Edward's Chair - is now 700 years old.
"The King and Queen who have been advocates of the environment and sustainability haven't had anything new made, either to wear or to sit upon for this ceremony. That speaks to their respect for history but also is a practical demonstration of their interest in environmentalism and sustainability.
"I think what is also extremely significant is that Michelle O'Neill and the Sinn Fein speaker of the house in the North, Alex Maskey, are both attending; that is both symbolic and extemely important," said Mr McKiernan.
