The Department of Education has given the go-ahead for an extension to Corliss National School in Killeshandra. The development will see the addition of one new mainstream classroom and a SET classroom. Cavan-based TD Brendan Smith said it was positive news for the school community. Speaking to Northern Sound, Deputy Smith believes the decision will "considerably enhance" the schools accommodation. He went on to compliment all of those involved in getting this project to fruition; "I'm very glad that the Minister for Education, Minister Helen McEntee has now given approval to Corliss National School to proceed to construction with a building project at the school. This accommodation is very welcomed and I'm very glad to have worked alongside the board of management, the principal, staff and the parents association in working to bring this project to fruition."
