A Cootehill councillor says today’s funding announcement for the area is the boost needed after the news of the Bank of Ireland closure this week.
Over €600,000 has been announced for walking routes, trials and greenways across Cavan and Monaghan.
€200,000 is going to the Dromore Greenway which Fine Gael’s Carmel Brady says will develop tourism and encourage families to holiday there.
She says that it will connect and enhance the current amenities and was news that was needed this week in particular.
Funding was also allocated to the Cavan way.
While in Monaghan, the Ballybay Trial and Lough na Glack will see improvements with a €263,000 pot between them.
