A cookery demonstration by popular Cavan chef Neven Maguire will take place tonight in the Ballroom of Romance, Glenfarne. The event is in a bid to raise essential funds for St Patrick's National School in Blacklion. Doors open at 7pm and the demonstration will start at 8pm.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Neven highlighted the importance of giving back to the local community and described tonight's proceedings as an event for all the family to enjoy. During tonight's event, the award-winning chef says he will talk about what inspired his cooking career at a young age and how he was the first boy to study home-economics as well as demonstrating a number of recipes which audience members can easily make at home.
Speaking to Northern Sound in relation to tonight's event, Neven explained; "My son Connor will come up and help me on stage, he's only 12 and learning to cook and that will be a lovely experience as it was my own mother who inspired me at a young age. When I look back I always wanted to be a chef from the age of 12/13 and my passion for cooking and food started at home and then I was the first boy at school to do home-economics which I will be talking about tonight as there will be young kids in the audience. I really think that since Covid, more people have reconnected with food and are growing their own produce and cooking more which is great to see."
