The Convent lands Playground in Carrickmacross is set to re-open in the coming weeks.
An assessment on the local playground is due very soon according to local councillor Colm Carthy.
He raised the issue at a recent council meeting of the Carrickmacross/Castleblayney Municipal District.
A 2.1m high railings and gate have been installed and the grounds & equipment have been cleared and cleaned following the closure of the facility over the past two years.
Councillor Carthy said the playground was closed due to antisocial behaviour and that in the coming weeks the doors will reopen once again.
"It's our hope that over the coming weeks that part of the park will be reopened. We have actually received confirmation from the executive of the council that they are going to resource the opening of this play-park in the morning and the locking of it in the evening time which will prevent potential future anti-social behaviour or vandalism. It is a good news story, its one that's taken quite a period of time to deliver on and I just look forward to it opening over the coming weeks and not only that, the families of the children in the area are really looking forward to it opening".
