Contracts have been signed on the new fire station planned for Ballybay.
Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council, David Maxwell signed the contracts for the new facility last Friday.
Construction is due to get underway in the coming weeks and works are expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
Local councillor Sean Gilliland says this will enhance what is an already super service which that keeps people in the region safe in the event of fire and accidents.
Cllr Gilliland says this is good news not just for the Ballybay and Latton area but because of its strategic location, Clones, Monaghan, Carrickmacross and Castleblayney will all benefit.
