Contracts have been signed for Ballyjamesduff Community and Enterprise Hub following a €7.6m Rural Regeneration Grant.
Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, visited Cavan today to officially open a series of projects funded by her Department.
The Minister started her day at Bruskey National School where she opened a new community astro-turf pitch which was funded through the CLÁR programme. The Minister then travelled to Kilnaleck where she opened a new Remote Working and Digital Hub. Next came a visit to Ballyjamesduff where the contract was signed for the design phase of the Community and Enterprise Hub.
Due to be completed in 2025, the project will redevelop and refurbish the former Percy French Hotel and site in the centre of Ballyjamesduff providing a remote working hub and community facility.
Cllr Trevor Smith says the former hotel will become a state of the art community building and it is very exciting news for the town and after 20 years of the hotel being closed the streetscape will be enhanced along with added facilities in the town of Ballyjamesfuff.
The Minister then travelled to Kingscourt where she opened the refurbished playground. Then it was on to Cootehill Harps FC for by opening the upgraded carpark, which was also funded through the CLÁR programme. Also while in Cootehill the Minister unveiled upgrade works to an existing playground.
