Planned works at Lough Muckno in Castleblayney have progressed to the final stages.
At Monday’s meeting of the Municipal District of Carrickmacross Castleblayney, Cathaoirleach Cllr PJ O’Hanlon signed a contract with Sammy Wilkins from S Wilkin & Sons Ltd for recreational enhancement works at Black Island, Lough Muckno.
Works will commence on site in mid February and will entail upgrades to existing gravel paths, new signage and interpretation and installation of wooden seating as well as natural viewing features at rest points. Last year, former local Minister Heather Humphreys announced funding of 500,000 euro for the local amenity. Cllr Aidan Campbell said the works will be a gamechanger when completed for the Lough Muckno area.
