Cavan County Council has signed off a contract with Sandar Construction that will see the development of 15 new social housing units in Ballinagh.
The units will be located at the site of three existing derelict properties on the Cavan Road and funding of close to €3.3 million has been approved for the works via the Social Housing Investment Programme.
The project will deliver a mix of two, three, and four-bed units.
It's anticipated works will be completed in 16 months and the units will be allocated and occupied by the end of 2022.
The Council's Director of Services, Eoin Doyle, says this is one of 14 such developments throughout the county which will bring 269 further units into the council's housing stock.
He also praised the "skills and efforts" required to make this progress "against the backdrop of a pandemic".
