A contract for a housing development in Co Monaghan had to be re-advertised after the contractor pulled out due to rising construction costs.
A tender had been issued for the demolition of derelict housing on Church Street in Ballybay and the development of two townhouses in its place.
Monaghan County Council's Executive Engineer, Mark Hall, told a recent Ballybay-Clones MD meeting that construction costs have risen by 20 to 30% since the original contractor was appointed.
The tender contract had to be re-advertised and a number of contractors are being assessed.
Mark Hall says he hopes to appoint a contractor this month and progress the scheme soon.
